Gut instinct and why you should listen to it

Gut instinct or discernment can be a tricky beast. Do we listen to others who have more experience or do we listen to our own inner guidance that just won’t shut up.

Most times it can be daunting to think we might know better than someone who has been doing things for years, or is a known go-to person. But if their advice just doesn’t feel right, or feels “hinky” for want of a better word should we still push ahead?

My advice would be no.

If it feels off, of your gut starts churning around it pay attention.. Your own gut instinct/inner guidance is telling you something very clearly, Have enough trust in yourself to listen. It may be you require some clarification or a deeper understanding of what is being said, a miscommunication to put right. Or it may be the energy is off for you and out of alignment and is the wrong mix for you.

Whatever it is it pays to listen to your discernment of gut instinct. It’s been developed over thousands of years as humans evolved and developed. Fight or flight responses are still valid and in the spiritual field hold more weight than you might believe.

Has your gut ever really been wrong?

Let me ask you this. When’s the last time you ignored your gut instinct and went ahead with something. Only for it all to fall apart and make you wish you’d listened to yourself instead? I have so many examples. As I’m typing this I’ve had a weekend where i WISH I had stopped, gotten clarification instead of acting and having to publicly back track on something that could easily have been avoided.

And yes mine seem to happen publicly. I’m just that lucky *laughing to myself*. But I choose to see them as teachable moments and also being very transparent – I am at times still human.

Discernment/gut instinct is key

When in doubt pause. Take a step back, observe, question. If it still feels wrong, the wrong time, not fully making sense then don’t do whatever it is. Take your time and assess as fully as you can.

Knee jerk reactions can cause so much destruction *raises hand*. Making apologies will help but avoidance would have been preferable.

Instead stop, ask the questions is this right for me and see how it feels in your gut.

If its squirming even thinking about it, t’s probably not the best course of action or decision for you right now.

If all feels calm and you get a “go for it” feeling then I’d say go ahead

Discernment or gut instinct will serve you well over time. Learn to listen to it fully
